When the New Year Doesn’t Seem So Fresh and New
The New Year has launched, last year has faded: things undone and mistakes made are left in the past. Each one buried under fresh grace.
Redo
Oh, the glory of the redo!
This year dawns bright and promising.
Each moment is waiting to be filled with steps of love and beauty, peace and purpose.
Yet the path meanders, and it’s easy to step off. The redo tarnished by the same old missteps.
Missteps and Frustrations
Condemnation, frustration, and bitterness build, for feet go where they’re willed not. Words and thoughts and actions repeat ugliness. An ugliness supposedly buried.
“What’s the use in trying!” comes more easily to mind as day after day is greeted with blunders.
Abide in Christ
And You softly reply:
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4)
Glory renewed!
Tarnish again removed. Each day once more polished fresh and new.
New Year and New Mercies
Because Your mercies are new each morning. You offer fresh grace, abundantly sufficient for each 24-hour gift.
This gift of each day—it is not fully unwrapped by striving but by abiding.

And in abiding with You, grace becomes fully apparent and the year truly new and fresh and beautiful.

Just as intended since the beginning of creation.
Thank you, dear Jesus.

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

A privilege to share God’s promises, Jenn. I can’t imagine how burdensome life would be without God’s new mercies every day.
What does it mean to me to abide with the LORD? I have learned that I have to live close to Jesus in order to maintain peace in my heart, to gain more wisdom and knowledge of Him. In order to abide with Him,I have to listen for His guidance and look for Him in my day to day life.
Abiding = “Live close to Jesus” – simply and beautifully said, Cecelia.
