The One Promise On Which You Can Always Anchor Your Joy
“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit.” (Psalm 51:12)
This verse is underlined and starred in my Bible because it’s been the cry of my heart for some time.
I’m a task-oriented, driven person, and sometimes in my overzealous attempt to do it all, I find myself trudging through life with blinders on. I see the task in front, but miss the bigger picture surrounding it—the people I’m doing it for, the gifts that make it possible to accomplish, the God who gives those gifts.
In accomplishing the tasks of living, I miss the joy of living.
Many of you may experience the same thing. The feeling of daily joy slips elusive.
But that really isn’t how it should be. The Christian soul should always know an air of joy. Even when she doesn’t feel it.
Because when we are blinded by the weight of today, there is always the promise of an eternity of glory-filled tomorrows.
When we are blinded by the weight of today, hold onto the promise of an eternity of glory-filled tomorrows. Share on X
Think about that! Today may be hard. Tomorrow even more so.
But the promise of an eternity of tomorrows is ours. And not the tomorrows that bring tears and sorrow. But the glorious days of unending peace, love, and joy, worshiping with the heavenly host.
We mustn’t let this life crowd out our celebration of the life to come. Salvation, the gift of spending eternity with God our Father, should always make our hearts dance.
Salvation, the gift of spending eternity with God, should always make our hearts dance, regardless of circumstances. Share on X
There is joy found everywhere if we learn how to look for it.
But no more so than in the promise of our salvation.
“Come, let us shout joyfully to the Lord, shout triumphantly to the rock of our salvation!” (Psalm 95:1)
Reflections: What about today weighs you down the most? Have you found that load lighter when placed in the proper perspective of the promise of an eternity of glory-filled tomorrows?

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

Setting our sights on eternity is such an important perspective to maintain, Crystal, but the foggy world does get in the way at times, doesn’t it? So grateful for your comment.
Julie, thanks for the encouragement to look for the joy in the middle of my every day life! We were on the same page for FMF this week. Great post!
