Purposeful Living (walking out the life God gives) {One Word 2022}
Our days hold more importance than we may realize. Each one is ordained by the Lord to fulfill His purpose, and we have a part in that plan as long as we have breath. Let’s live a purposeful life for God.

The older I get, the more intentional I want to be with my time. I see the brevity of life and want to make the most of it. And as I prayed about the upcoming year, I felt guided to anchor it in a declaration of my commitment to fully living the life God gave me: publicly proclaiming my intentionality to serve the Lord in the capacity for which He created me sounded right.
Yet, when I researched intentional something seemed missing. It means “made, given, or done with full awareness of what one is doing.” Yes, I want to live fully aware of the what and the why behind my words and actions.
Purposeful Living
Yet awareness doesn’t mean much if I lack follow through. Then I found purposeful. Not only does it have the same definition as intentional, it takes it a step further to be “fully committed to achieving a goal.”
That’s it! Fully aware and fully committed to what the Lord would have me do: That’s how I want to live out those precious moments and days He gave me!
So for the first time in six years, I’m declaring One Word to help me stay on track with my intentions through the next year (here’s a link to my other One Word posts in past years). In 2022, PURPOSEFUL will be my guidepost. Purposeful in my spiritual life, purposeful with my health, purposeful in my relationships, purposeful with my finances, purposeful in my work, and purposeful in the writing ministry God has called me to. I’m endeavoring to be fully aware and fully committed to God’s call in each of these areas.
The Lord gave us free will. We can use it to walk in the life He purposed for us, or we can walk in another direction, one we think is best. Only the former leads to contentment.
Glorify, Honor, and Serve God
I want to glorify, honor, and serve God right up to the very last breath He gave me. That takes intentionality and purposeful living. May the Lord guide and strengthen me in my days.

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
Reflections: Have you ever chosen One Word to help you stay focused in a given year? If so, what was that word? If not, what other tools do you use to stay committed to living each day for the Lord?
Have a blessed New Year!
By His Grace,
Julie
Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
