The Greatest Reason for Giving Thanks [Gratitude Series and a Gift for You]
Giving gifts brings great blessings (I gave one away on this blog last week). Receiving them isn’t so bad either.
It’s certainly fun to receive those unexpected expensive ones. But truly, those given with the greatest amount of consideration for me as the receiver hold the most meaning to me.
However, no gift comes even close to comparing to the one given to us from the Lord … in value or meaning. God sent His Son from heaven to earth to become the sacrifice for our sin!
From God to man, from sitting on the throne to nailed to a cross, Jesus willingly took the punishment for all our sin. That, my friend, means you and I have been given victory over sin and death! We are no longer slaves to sin, and we no longer have to fear death.
This Thanksgiving, if it proves difficult for you to be grateful for your earthly circumstances, think on the sacrifice made by your Savior. Reflect on the victory Jesus won for you and find the greatest reason for giving thanks!

“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” 1 Corinthians 15:56-57
Reflections: At Thanksgiving, what do you do to remember the sacrifice of Jesus, the greatest reason for giving thanks?
Many years ago, I read about a Thanksgiving tree on Ann Voskamp’s blog. I grabbed the idea and have putting one up for Thanksgiving every year since. The picture is of my tree a few years ago (This is the extent of my creativity). Hang Scripture leaves on your tree and then write one thing you are grateful for on the back of each.
My free #gift to you! Make a Thanksgiving Tree and use these Scripture leaf templates to decorate it. #gratitudeseries Share on X
They aren’t hard to do; use your imagination and creativity to come up with one that matches your personality. The most important thing are the Scripture leaves. As my Thanksgiving gift to you I’ve included my leaf templates in this post.
If you make a tree, please send me a picture in the comments on this post if that’s possible, on social media, or via email at julie@juliesunne.com. Can’t wait to see them!
By His Grace,
Julie
Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
