Don’t Miss the Adventure
Soft tweets, chirps and rustling indicate a new day is dawning. A day drowning in promise. I’m ready to take on the challenge. The to-do list is long, but I have a plan.
He comes behind and chatters as I mumble my responses. That’s interesting. How did that go? What are you going to do now?
My ears half-plugged, my mind fully cluttered. I hear but not really.
He’s trailing behind as I move purposely, putting away clothes, typing on keyboards, checking off lists. His voice I hear, and I look occasionally.
Those handsome intelligent eyes, dancing with the adventure of life. Are they dimming as I move—away not toward him?
So much to do, but for what? So he can have food and clothing and a secure home. But what about his desire for connection? What about his need for affirmation? What about his heart?
I care for his physical but in my fog of doing miss feeding his spirit.
There is time. There is always time while we yet breathe.
I look into those sparkling eyes and push the clutter aside. The to-do’s can wait. My plan can change.
I’ve been hearing. Now it’s time to really listen—to listen to him and above all listen to Him.
Now it’s time to join the adventure.
“Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15–16).
Question: What adventure are you missing out on because you are too busy doing to really hear about it?

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

Thanks for the visit and the kind words, Traci!
Love this! Thanks for the reminder that feeding the spirit is our most important work. I surely don’t want to miss out on the adventures around me! Visiting from FMF, too.
I don’t either, Amber. But it sure is easy to fall into the habit of “doing” instead of nurturing, isn’t it?
Love this Julie !!! Such a beautiful reminder for us to listen and really hear.
Thank you, Amy. I don’t do near enough of really listening. But at least I’m moving in the right direction. 🙂
