Sacrifice of Thanksgiving
Sometimes our world spins dark, and nothing seems good anymore. Yet simply because goodness and blessings seem absent doesn’t make it true. During those times, finding the blessings in your day (i.e., something to be grateful for) requires great determination and reflection. The Psalm writer calls it “the sacrifice of thanksgiving” (Psalm 116:17).

Some days being grateful comes easy. But on those days when it doesn’t, the difficult process of identifying and giving thanks in the hard times honors the Lord even more. It’s saying, “I trust You even when it doesn’t make sense”; “I believe in You even when I don’t understand what Your doing”; “I believe You are faithful despite what the enemy tells me.”
The Lord is faithful, so gifts can always be found if we dig deep enough and offer Him the sacrifice of thanksgiving! Share on X
Notice the Goodness and Give Thanks for It
Jesus Christ promised to be with us. And as the originator of good, goodness exists where He resides. Therefore, no matter where we find ourselves, we will find blessings. So today, even if you find life difficult, do the hard work to notice the goodness and give thanks for it, offering God the sacrifice of thanksgiving!

Your Turn
Reflections: When you dig deep into your days, what gifts do you find? Where do you most clearly see the presence/the goodness of the Lord?
By His Grace,
Julie
Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
