Petals of Grace

Gold Brush Stroke

Despite His record of faithfulness, God’s grace continues to amaze me!

It amazes me that the Almighty, the Creator of all things, the One who breathed life into existence, would care so deeply about me as an individual to choose specific blessings handpicked just for me. And He carefully chooses the time to bestow them.

This time He sent petals of grace to calm a sea of chaos.

A whirl of activity surrounded me Sunday and Monday morning as I tried to get prepared to leave home for two days. Zachary, our second son, has to have a medical procedure where an extra electrical impulse in his heart will be “zapped.”

My mom graciously agreed to hold down the fort while we are gone. But because I am a “superwoman” (in my mind), I had an endless list of to-dos to complete first.

Laundry needed to be caught up; cleaning done; instructions made up for Mom detailing everyone’s schedule, medicine amounts, and phone numbers of neighbors; hair cuts to give; packing to complete; etc. In addition, I was debating getting Rachel in to have her checked for strep throat, and I needed a back adjustment.

All before we left at 11:30 Monday morning!

As departure time approached on Monday, there were still many things to check off, and my mind was in frantic mode. But through sheer discipline, I did manage to hold onto my morning devotions and despite the time pressures, reluctantly kept my morning walk.

Besides being a healthy activity, these walks are when I do my best communing with the Lord, praying for myself and others, praising, and sharing my heart with Him. God often encourages and teaches me during this time.

As I began my walk up the hill this chaotic morning, mentally listing each item I still needed to complete, God arrested my swirling thoughts and brought me gently but swiftly to a place of peace.

He didn’t use anything dramatic but instead, as He often does, chose the simple: three bright yellow flowers.Petals of Grace

Out of drying, dying leaves, the flowers displayed their radiance and spoke to me.

In an instant, they called my name, whispered His love, and sang His glory.

It was a sacred moment. The brilliance of the flowers in the midst of the drab, cajoled me to breathe deeply, to savor the beauty of the moment, and to slow down enough to feel His presence. They declared His majesty.

In the midst of the busyness of life, the King of the universe sent me just the right blessing at just the right time. He astounded me anew with His concern for each of His children.

In the midst of life's busyness, the Lord sends just the right blessing at just the right time. Pause and notice. Click To Tweet

He displayed His petals of grace to quiet a single soul.

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.” Philippians 4:19–20.

Reflections: How has the Lord amazed you with His love recently? Did He use the dramatic or the simple?

By His Grace,

Julie

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
