Polished [5 Minute Friday Grit]
I don’t know many of us that are completely happy in our skin. If there is something we could change we would, and do.
We look in the mirror and cringe at the reflection staring back at us. We reflect on the life we’ve lived and wonder how we got here. We weigh ourselves—every aspect—and ask, “What difference can I make, look at me?”
No, we don’t measure up in our eyes. And, truth be told, we don’t measure up in God’s Holy eyes either.
But take heart, dear sisters and brothers in Christ, we don’t have to measure up in our own strength, in our own image. God is doing a work in us to make us just right. In fact, we are already worthy to be called heirs to the throne, thanks to the ultimate sacrifice of His Son, Jesus!
We are useful, we can make a difference. God makes sure of it.
That mirror may reflect the words “worthless” or “undeserved” or “less than.” But our perception is fleeting. It is the Maker’s that counts.
And He created us, each for a purpose. Each to fill a role.
We can trust Him to refine our image, our mind, our heart until we are just who He needs. He will put us through the fire, melting and molding. He will polish each of His children in the sandy grit until we reflect Him.
Believe it!
“But who are you—anyone! who talks back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” (Romans 9:20, HCSB).
Have you failed to measure up in your own eyes? What have you found helpful to bolster your self-image?
Joining with The Gypsy Mama today for a 5-minute writing on the prompt GRIT. (My confession: I cannot write for just 5 minutes, generally it turns into 10. Sorry Lisa-Jo!)
By His Grace,
Julie

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

Happy Friday Julie! Awesome and trasnparent post…encouraging too. I love how you remind us that it’s the Makers perception that matters. Since He gave His life for me and His Word says it, I know He loves and esteems me.
Have a blessed weekend!
Yes, His perspective is all that should matter, Robin. But we put such pressure on ourselves to be someone we aren’t made to be. Sad to be wasting our energy that way. Blessings for your weekend as well.
This message never gets old to me. Thanks for living out I Thess 5:11 with your encouraging words.
True, Stacie. Isn’t it beautiful how God’s words remain relevant through the centuries. Thankful I encouraged you.
