The Lord Waits…for You and Me

The Lord Waits…for You and Me

The Lord waits for you and me to turn to Him with our daily needs. What are we waiting for?

“If I can just touch His robe, I’ll be made well!”(Matthew 9:21).

I reach out to Him for strength and then jerk back. Uncertain. Uncertain of what, I’m not sure.

What do I have to be afraid of? Hasn’t He proven Himself faithful, trustworthy, supportive? Wasn’t smothering Himself with the weight of all our sins proof enough? Didn’t He drive home the truth of His love as each nail was driven into His flesh? Shouldn’t enduring separation from His beloved Father and an agonizing death be payment enough for my unwavering love and trust?

Perhaps it’s not that. Maybe my day’s burdens just aren’t significant enough to concern the King. Or do I dare voice the words: Maybe, I’m not significant enough!

Such thoughts spring easily to mind, but I know they are  nothing more than insidious lies, meant to keep me from experiencing the fullness of being a follower of the True King.

The Lord Waits

Jesus Christ—the Redeemer, the Bread of Life, the Alpha and Omega—waits for each of us with open arms, beckons with a soft whisper.

But still I hesitate, hand in midair, indecision taunting me. As the difficulties of this broken world weigh down on me, I turn toward other avenues for relief—myself , my friends, fellow church members, sometimes even inanimate objects such as food or clothes. It is a hollow attempt at comfort. A temporary salve at best.

Touching His robe, that’s all I have to do. It isn’t much, just a minute touch with a trembling heart, nothing more.

The Lord waits—as long as it takes I’ve found. And when I get to the end of me, that’s when I finally turn to Him.

The Open Door

I knock. The door opens. Jesus is the key. He has been the key all along. I have access to peace, comfort, wisdom, guidance, salvation just by reaching out, just by touching, just by having the courage to knock. It is free, it is given for us all, it is grace.

My Comforter and Savior remains, abundantly merciful, amazingly forgiving, fully open to receiving me—and you.

You are not insignificant; your burdens are not too light or too heavy for the Lord. Jesus Christ makes Himself available to you, to me, to all who believe.

Don’t wait to get to the end of you first.

Experience Love, Joy, and Peace

The Lord waits for y0u. So go ahead, reach out, complete the touch, move through the open door and experience the love, joy, and peace of daily walking with the only One who truly knows, the One who is always accessible.

Now that’s not so hard … or is it?

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39).

Wonderful, Julie. Thanks for reminding me to keep my eyes on “the prize”, where no knock is left unanswered. “COME LORD JESUS, COME.”

So many times it’s like that isn’t it. Wonderful piece. Thanks for that.

  3. “Don’t wait to get to the end of you first.” WHY do we do that??!!

You’ve asked the million-dollar question, Angie! There are likely many intermingling components that make up the answer. Deepening our understanding of God’s character decreases the times we buy into the lie that we can get through in our own power. Have a blessed Sunday.
