Sometimes life hurts too much. The pain and weightiness become more than we can handle. It’s then we’re forced to turn to the One who can take it all. The Lord is able, and He is willing to help His children when we surrender our pain to Him.

I’m currently in a season that is extremely difficult. I’m exhausted and hurting. The heaviness threatens to hold me down. So I’m grateful for my Lord and Savior, who understands and whom I can always count on for comfort, strength, and hope. May this prayer encourage you in whatever season you find yourself.
A Prayer for When Life Hurts Too Much
Lord, the pain is real, the weariness and stress great. Death has left me with a gaping hole in my heart, but it is life that pierces time and time again.
I feel alone in my misery even though I know I’m surrounded by those who love me and still more who pray for me and desire to encourage me. There are others who hurt with the same deep ache. But that provides little comfort. My comfort comes in knowing You, in knowing that You are sovereign over even this—death itself. And in knowing that all I face and all those I love face You’ve sifted and allowed.
I don’t understand it, Lord. Oh, how I don’t understand it! But You do, and You love me; therefore, I’ll trust in Your perfect and good will. Help me with that please. Forgive my insecurity, Father, and strengthen my faith. Help me share with others all You’ve done in my life and continue to do, even in this difficult season.
Open my senses and soften my heart to notice the blessings still in my life, the grace You pour out on me. Give me a humble and grateful heart. Strengthen me to suffer well. Remind me of Your greatness and sovereignty. And continue to place songs of praise in my heart, so I can worship and glorify You even in the pain.
In Your mighty and merciful name, Amen.
Lord, when life hurts open my senses and soften my heart to notice the blessings still in my life, the grace You pour out on me. Give me a humble and grateful heart. Strengthen me to suffer well. #prayer Share on X

Reflections
What hurt do you need to surrender to the Lord today? What pain do you need Him to help you carry?

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
