She Is Special [Happy Birthday]

Gold Brush Stroke

cutePeople say we are special for caring for her. People say they don’t know how we do it.

But I know better. She is the one who is special. She is the one who graces our lives with love and laughter.

Her Special Brand

Here are some things I love about her:

  • Her forever-friends: Winnie-the-Pooh and all things kittyfriends
  • The way she says “Mama” in her sweet little voice
  • Her “butt” dance when she is excited
  • Her goofinessgoofy
  • How she rocks herself to sleep
  • Her tiny hands and feet
  • Her love for roughhousing with familyroughhousing
  • Her compassion
  • The way she shows faraway love by blowing kisses into the phone receiver
  • Her deep hugs and plastering kisses
  • Her radiant smile
  • Her unconditional lovelove
  • How she “helps” by returning all the clean dishes to the sink and placing the dirty ones in the drying rack
  • Her unrestrained worship
  • Her love of books
  • Her enjoyment of Go Fish and Adventures in Odyssey
  • How she plays in her cakecake
  • The profound way she changed me

Fourteen years ago, June 5, we were blessed with an amazing gift. A treasure so unique and precious we didn’t recognize her full worth at first. Fourteen years ago we were blessed with our precious daughter, Rachel.

birthday

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl! We love you forever and beyond!

“The very hairs of your head are all numbered. …  you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:7)

Thank you, Lord, for unanswered prayers, for treasures unrealized, for your endless grace, mercy, and blessings. Thank you, Lord, for Rachel!

Reflections: Have you ever received a gift not truly understand at first? What or who was it, and what changed your perception?

By His Grace,

Julie

Yes, yes, yes! God’s “upside-down economy” shows us that He has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong. Happy (belated) birthday to your dear girl and thank you, friend, for your encouragement to my heart.
