To Those Who Witness Through Example

Gold Brush Stroke

“A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.”—Cicero

In this country, we are in desperate need for Godly role models for our children, especially, for boys! Men and women who not only talk the talk (or sing the song) but who truly walk the walk—even after they become a household name. We need Christian mentors who will show the next generation what living a life for Christ looks like.

Those Who Witness

I am thankful for men like world-renowned bass-baritone vocalist Simon Estes whose love for the Lord is proclaimed not only through his songs and in his booming testimony but also in the way he conducts himself. It is uncommon for one who has reached such status to remain humble and openly indebted to the Lord.

Therefore, this “One Thousand Gifts (or more)” post is dedicated to those who are willing to step out of the shadows and proclaim the Father’s love and faithfulness to the world (and to our children) … and live it!

87. Simon Estes concert and his inspiring songs—but more importantly, the humble spirit and Godly character of this remarkable man.

88. The Jesus Who never fails us.

88. Two dozen young turkeys meandering across the road.

89. sky

90. The return of a great friend.

91. Prayer warriors.

92. Courageous young people willing to stand up for what is right.

93. Special Olympics!

94. Rachel’s squeal of joy.

95. A great time of fellowship with ladies who love the Lord.

96. Rachel humming along with me! With such a limited vocabulary, she’s never attempted singing, and this is the first time I’ve noticed this form of expression from her—Praise God!

97. A gratifying time helping with seventh-grade outdoor education.

98. Teachers who are willing to help Rachel participate in special field trips like outdoor education; one teacher even carried her on his back up a steep hill—now that is commitment to his job and all children!

99. Encouraging words from special people in my life (you know who you are—thank you!)

100. Men and women who are encouraging young people to walk with Jesus Christ not just by word and song but through example.

I am now one-tenth of the way to one thousand! See it’s not so hard, and it helps keep our eyes focused on the Sustainer of Life!

Won’t you join me on my journey to a thankful heart?

By His Grace,

Julie

Julie Sunne

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
