Who Are the Brave?

Gold Brush Stroke

Wall ClimbingIt is easy to trust what you can see. It’s right in front of you. There is little to question.

It is easy to stick with something that is enjoyable or comfortable. In our pleasure, there is little reason to change.

Yet what is noteworthy about having faith in the obvious or staying true to the welcoming?

Impressive are those who believe in something bigger than their minds can comprehend. Memorable are those who forge through even in the unpleasant.

They are the ones who realize the limitations of their finite existence and the possibilities afforded by following the infinite Lord. They are the ones who understand not all that is worthy is easy.

These are my heroes. The faithful who know that to trust in a greater power than them is to tap into a love and truth far beyond the reach of the human mind. Those who acknowledge their failures and their need for a Redeemer. The loyal and teachable who battle through the hard days to reap the rewards of sacrifice and growth.

My heroes are ones who don’t throw in the towel when the bank account registers zero or their marriage is less than ideal or the suffering is more than they bargained for.

My heroes are the ones who take seriously their vows, look for opportunities to grow, are willing to reach out to others, and cling to the One who gave life itself.

My heroes are those who take the next step even when the path is not fully lit because they trust in the One who guides them. Those who are willing to be ridiculed and persecuted for their Lord and Creator. These are the individuals to note.

These are the truly brave.

“Love the Lord, all His faithful ones. The Lord protects the loyal, but fully repays the arrogant. Be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord.” (Psalm 31:23–24)

Question to discuss: What do you think brave looks like? Does that define you?

Give it a try. Join us at Lisa-Jo’s. And if you do scratch out a piece for 5 Minute Friday, go ahead and link it up in my comments as well. This week’s word is Brave.

So nice to “meet” you, Tina! As missionaries, you are truly brave, stepping out in faith and trusting the Lord to see you through. You are one of my heroes.

Another great post Julie. To answer your question, I will go with…. “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” ~ T. S. Eliot

    Dear Jullie
I agree with you on this one. 100%. A brave man in my economy, is one that works hards for his family to provide. Like my Hubbie who takes uor marriage very seriously, yet another brave thing they do, is to bring a big bunch of flowers to say sorry after he was in the dog box. Hahahaaa!
    Blessings from FMF

Julie Sunne

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
