Run Your Own Race of [G]Race
I look ahead and I don’t always like what I see. But I look behind and my life has been as it should.
My path is not one of ease. Should it be? There are roots to trip me up. Holes to fall in. Hills to climb. And even detours to make. I’m not traveling in the straight line I would plan.
No, this is not the easiest nor the quickest way to the finish line.
But it is the only way for me to make it.
I can’t run your race. It’s not mine to run. I need to stick to the game plan specifically drawn for me. And believe me, there is a plan with your name on it, too.
My son has ventured out now. He is no longer running beside me. His is now a path all his own. I pray for his race, but I can’t run it for him.
A Race Wrapped in Grace
Because we each run our own course. And no matter what the layout. No matter how many obstacles. No matter how many times you stumble. No matter if it will take you through quicksand or up the steep side of a mountain.
No matter what it looks like, you can trust that the path laid out before you is the perfect one for you.

Because each one of our crazy mixed-up races is wrapped in God’s radical, wildly exorbitant grace. A grace that chases us and changes us. A grace that propels us to the finish line marked with our name.
Our race is wrapped in His {G}race.

“… Let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne” (Hebrews 12:1–2).
Reflections: Are you running your race wrapped in His grace?

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

Julie, lovely post. The race I’m living is definitely wrapped up in His exorbitant grace. What a great way to put it! :0) I so related when you said, “My son has ventured out now. He is no longer running beside me. His is now a path all his own. I pray for his race, but I can’t run it for him.” As a mom, it is difficult to let go. The picture that he is no longer running beside me really moved me. Thank you for the reminder to watch for HIS grace in my race, as well as my son’s. :0)
Oh, so difficult to let go, Robbie. But it is a race worth running for all of us. His grace makes it so. Thanks for popping in and your kind words. Blessings.
Such a beautiful post.
Thank you. Blessings.
I appreciate the way you’ve looked back to see that your life is good, that it is as it should be, according to God’s plan, and that each person has a God-designed plan. Good stuff, Julie.
Linda
The only way I “see” it is to look back, Linda. But since I know God is always good and has my best interest in mind, I shouldn’t need to verify it, should I? Thankful we serve a merciful Father.
Great post. Each race is unique. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for stopping by, Tammy.
