Why We Should Conduct Ourselves Like Royalty, and What that Looks Like

How we speak and conduct ourselves matters. Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed, I’ve spent quite a bit of time learning about the younger United Kingdom royals, especially Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, and his wife Catherine. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on why I’m captivated by them. It’s not because I envy the way…

Two Things To Do When Hard Lingers

Remembering God’s promises brings solace in the midst of the hard. All it took was a phone call. One call and the stress I’d been able to set aside for an entire glorious day came rushing back: a reminder that hard is never far away. Rachel (our precious 20-year-old daughter who functions on the level…

God’s Promises Are for You As Well

Sometimes the promises of God seem far off. But He can be trusted to fulfill even the most seemingly impossible promise.  From Single to Numerous The biblical patriarch Abraham was a wealthy man. He had an abundance of food, servants and possessions. Yet I wonder if at times he stumbled around blind to those gifts…

Why Focus Is Important in Your Life and Mine

Running ahead of God leads to frustration and/or burnout. Lagging behind Him guarantees missed opportunities and growth.  This is true no matter what area of life we’re talking about. In our relationships or with our finances,  in our careers or in our ministries, the same truth applies. When we run ahead, we often experience trouble…

Let the Holy Spirit Lead and Be Empowered in Your Walk of Faith

Fingers poised over the keyboard, I said a silent prayer. Lord, give me the right words to say. Not my words but yours.  This email would go to my state representative, addressing an issue near and dear to my heart. I desperately wanted to change this man’s mind … actually his intended vote. According to…

How to Better Understand and Address Our Culture (review of “Saving Truth”)

My highest calling as a mother is to point my children to the truth … the Truth. To show them the right path. To encourage them to stay on that path.  It takes intention … but intention isn’t enough. I have to know what the truth is and find the best ways to impart it. …

Why We Shouldn’t Hide All Our Imperfections

“I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence I can reach for; perfection is God’s business.” —Michael J. Fox As we drove toward our destination, my friend and I shared about our failures to exercise restraint in a certain area. It was a refreshing conversation. Imperfections and Faithful Too often our failings are…

Do You See God’s Guidance as an Interruption? What Do Your Actions Show?

Sometimes we see guidance and an interruption without realizing it. Sometimes we do this with God.  I repeated myself for the third time. “Rachel, put that down. Come and sit.” She nodded, yet remained standing. A far-off look in her eyes told me she may have heard, but she certainly wasn’t listening. The iPad-mini audiobook…

The Most Merciful Thing Ever Done (mercy that changed everything)

“God’s mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water, or deprive the sun of its light, or make space too narrow, than diminish the great mercy of God.” – Charles Spurgeon In John 13:1-19, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples before the Last Supper—even His betrayer. What humility!…

Julie Sunne

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
