Awake to Grace

Gold Brush Stroke

Linking with The Gypsy Mama for 5 minute Friday to jot down thoughts on Awake.

I awake to realize I failed. Guilt washes over.

Those 2 steps I thought I took forward were countered by 3 steps back. How I hate that about me. I think I’ve changed, only to find my old self resurfacing—sometimes uglier than before.

I know what I should do. But often I do just the opposite.

Nothing is left but to repent. Start over.

The beauty is that I can do just that! Restart. Refocused and renewed. All because of grace that is fresh and new every day, every moment.

God’s grace is bigger than my messes.

I don’t like my old self. I detest seeing it resurface. But with fresh grace, I can put it to sleep again and redeem that lost step. Perhaps tomorrow, I will awaken, realizing those 3 steps back were countered by 4 steps forward.

That’s the promise of a Father’s abounding love!

STOP

“For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate” (Romans 7:15, HCSB).

“Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus, because the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death” (Romans 8:1–2, HCSB).

Have you found yourself taking more steps backward than forward? Does your old self resurface more than you like? Take heart, we have freedom in Christ Jesus! You can restart, refocus, and renew over and over again. Grace is fresh each and every moment.

Yes, I do this dance: forward, in step with Him, and then back. I rejoice in Him never letting go of my hand, through it all. Thank you so much for your encouragement and truth here!

Julie Sunne

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
