How Have You Been Surprised By the Unlikely?

Gold Brush Stroke

I grew up expecting, and living, a “normal” life. I’d go to school, get a job, find a spouse, bear children, take a few vacations, grow old and die. Nothing spectacular. Nothing out of the ordinary.

That’s just how life is supposed to proceed for someone like me. And that is how it went … for a while.

Yet, life is rarely predictable. Normal often takes on a different reality.

My new normal was the loss of five babies through early miscarriage and the birth of a daughter with significant disabilities.

My reality became something totally unexpected, and I reeled in denial. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be.

Like many of us, I bought into the fallacy that life happens in a certain way for certain people. When it didn’t, I was taken off guard and left bewildered and angry.

I pray that we all can have the courage to embrace life when it does not go our way and instead goes God’s way. Let us be open and compliant to the Holy Spirit.

Julie Sunne

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
