On Bended Knee – Love and Worship Jesus Christ
As Christmas creeps closer I find myself reflecting on the relationship we have with the One whose birthday is celebrated that day. On our part, it is somewhat troubling.
We often whitewash Jesus Christ, paint Him all sweet and gentle and in a box. More like a cuddly kitten than a roaring lion. We talk about His love and around His righteousness.
We like to tout that He is our friend, someone to go to when we are in need. And that is certainly true.
But the Christ, the One who gave His life so you and I may live, is so much more than a big teddy bear.
He is the Lord of Lords, the King of kings, the Everlasting Savior, the Prince of Peace. The Way, the Truth, and the Life.
The Messiah should not be thought of as a security blanket to hold onto when we are fearful or a get-out-of-jail free card to cash in when we need something.
The Lamb of God came to seek and save. Yet He also came to shake everything up—to divide and winnow.

“Do you think that I came here to give peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! From now on, five in one household will be divided: three against two, and two against three” (Luke 12:51-52).

He is our Redeemer yet also our Judge.
This should give us pause to rethink our relationship with the Lord of Lords.
Do we merely call on Him during times of trouble—like a bodyguard or knight in shining armor—or turn to Him when we want to “feel” good?
The Savior should be worshiped and revered, not coddled and used.

It’s wonderful to revel in Christ’s love, but we also must not forget to heed the divine and let our knee bow to the great I AM.

“For this reason God highly exalted Him
and gave Him the name
that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow—
of those who are in heaven and on earth
and under the earth—
and every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11)
Reflections: How has the Prince of Peace turned your world upside down?
By His Grace,
Julie

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

Amen, Julie! He is not only our Creator, Savior, & Redeemer, but He is also the righteous Judge, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. He is not a helpless infant nor even “the man upstairs.” Every knee will bow to Him one day and every tongue will confess Who He is.

Laurie
