Uniquely Together [5 Minute Friday]

Gold Brush Stroke

At The Gypsy Mama we write for five minutes flat on Fridays: no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking (at least that’s the goal). Today’s prompt is Together. (I’m a little late with this post—too much togetherness!)

one soul at a time

I love to be alone.

To spend time contemplating the big questions; reading; wandering the countryside exploring God’s beauty; or in the Word.

However, I also love being with others. Much can be done quicker and easier with several than with only one.

How much easier (and more enjoyable) it is to spring clean or put in a large garden with multiple helpers. Or what about playing board games or sports—pretty tough alone. Or just hanging out, sharing a smile, giving a hug.

Definitely, alone-time is important and cherished by many of us. And in fact, is essential for emotional and spiritual health.

But together we can accomplish tasks impossible with only one. In community, we can encourage and support each other, wipe tears and laugh alongside.

We each have unique gifts that complement and build on others.

In relationship with other Christians we can spread to the ends of the earth, using our individual talents to bring the Gospel to the lost.

Together, as fellow heirs to the Kingdom, we can share Jesus and change the world, one soul at a time.

“Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts” (Romans 4-6, HCSB).

Reflections: How have you used your unique gifts to enhance time together with others? To shine the light on Christ?

By His Grace,

What a delight your words are! “…encourage and support each other, wipe tears and laugh alongside” I just love your description, and you’re right, we need one another! Blessings to you!

I’ve been thinking so much about community lately- and it’s popping up everywhere! Perhaps because God, in his nature (father, son and holy spirit) IS community…

If we carry your line of thinking forward, Natasha, then community existed in the triune God far before creation. No wonder we crave it (even when it scares us). Wow, what a thought! Thanks for sharing. May you be blessed with a weekend of uplifting community!

Amen to working as a community as so much more can be achieved to show God’s love.

Thank you, Colline. Have a blessed weekend of community!

Julie Sunne

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
