5 Minute Friday

In God We …
Linking with The Gypsy Mama to write for 5 minutes flat without worrying if its right or not. Today’s prompt—Trust. GO “In God we trust.” It is stamped on our money. The motto of our country. But do we? Do I? As I prepare to send my son to college, am I trusting God to…
It Is Real Grace
GO It is the life I live, so similar to others but vastly different, so complicated yet eerily simple. Real Life Meets Real Grace Storm clouds gather, then are chased away by the wind. The fog thickens until dissipated by the sun. It is messy, ugly, and painful. It is lovely, precious, and fun. I…
Vivid in His eyes
God planned each of our lives. We are no accident, but lovingly created for this exact time and place. I see vivid now, our first little bundle, fresh from all those tubes. Laying him on our bed—“Now what”? My man sees it different, him tiny and frightened, lying on his chest, falling fast asleep. And…
Awake to Grace
Linking with The Gypsy Mama for 5 minute Friday to jot down thoughts on Awake. GO I awake to realize I failed. Guilt washes over. Those 2 steps I thought I took forward were countered by 3 steps back. How I hate that about me. I think I’ve changed, only to find my old self…
Caressing Roar
With the first Friday of the new year, is time again to join The Gypsy Mama for 5 Minute Friday, jotting down unedited thoughts around the prompt “roar.” GO “The LORD will roar from on high, and from his holy habitation utter his voice; he will roar mightily against his fold, and shout, like those…
Positively Connected
I’m running a little behind this week, so here is my 5 Minute Friday take on Connected. GO I enjoy being connected with others—to help, encourage, share, laugh. I believe God intended for us (especially women) to thrive in relationship. We need each other to provide accountability and inspiration, to listen to cares and rejoice…
Masterpiece of Color
Sometimes this world seems so dark, so black—devoid of color. Then my focus moves to Him and color explodes. Black and dark is what I make it, not what is intended. The Creator intended for our lives to be colorful. Painted with bright strokes on a beautiful canvas. I love the beauty when I choose…
Exquisitely Tired
Once again, I am linking up with Lisa-Jo at the Gypsy Mama to participate in her 5 Minute Friday challenge. This is where we stop, drop, and write for 5 minutes straight on a subject, with no editing or going back. (Okay, this is where I have to admit, I do a little backtracking and…
5 Minute Growth
Okay, I am trying something new here, and it is very scary! Every Friday, The Gypsy Mama hosts 5 Minute Friday where bloggers write for 5 minutes straight about a subject and then post it without making any changes or edits. This is particularly difficult for me because as an editor, I am wired to…
Not-So-Many Words (learning how to live fully)
To live fully the life we have been given is not so easy. Oh, it often looks easy in our heyday of innocence (that time between birth and age 5; okay, for some maybe into the double digits). After that, living can be downright difficult—at least at times. My early years largely played out in…

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
